Welcome to West Bengal Dental Council

The Dental Council of India is constituted by an act of parliament ‘The Dentists Act 1948’ (XVI of 1948) with a view to regulate the dental education, dental profession and dental ethics thereto-which came into existence in March, 1949. The Council is composed of 6 constituencies representing Central Government, State Government, Universities, Dental Colleges, Medical Council of India and the Private Practitioners of Dentistry. The Director-General of Health Services is Ex-Officio Member – both of the Executive Committee and General Body. The Council elects from themselves the President, Vice-President and the members of the Executive Committee.

Notice of West Bengal Council


All Dentists under (Part A & B) and Dental Hygienists & Mechanics are directed to renew their registration upto 2012 within 31st March 2012 with paying applicable renewal fees and restoration fees under this Council. It is requested to come personally along with their Original Registration Certificate for renewal requires endorsement on the back of the Registration Certificate. For any query about renewal, contact with the Council office on any working day (Monday to Friday) from 11 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

The Dentists Act 1948’ (XVI of 1948)

West Bengal Dental Council is a Statutory Body constituted by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal  w.e.f. 1st January, 1951 in terms of notification No.Medl/6027/2D-54/50 dated 29th December, 1950 and regulated by the Dental Council of India under Section 21 of the Dentist Act, 1948 (XVI of 1948) of the Govt. of India.

The State Council is financed by grants from the Govt. of West Bengal, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Department of Health).

Grant the credit point for CDE programme In view of the decision of the Executive Committee of the DCI at its meeting held on 9th & 10th January , 2010, I am directed to request that out of total credit points/ hours, two credit points may be considered in respect of registered dental surgeons who obtain these points through CE Site available at www.dentistryindia.net at the time of renewal of their registration.
